“We’re stoked to be so close to selling out the 2023 Mundi Mundi Bash – and with tickets flying out the door we’re only weeks, if not days, away from closing up shop on ticket sales. It’s a fantastic result for our second year – although after staging two events last year it nearly feels like it’s our third year. We had hugely successful events in 2022, and this year’s event will be even bigger and better,” said festival owner/founder, producer and Managing Director of the Outback Music Festival Group, Greg Donovan.
With sister event the Birdsville Big Red Bash already sold out, the Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash is the last remaining opportunity to experience the ultimate Outback music adventure – dancing under wide open skies as some of the biggest names in Oz music rock the plains.
The stacked 2023 artist line-up is led by festival headliners ICEHOUSE, who will perform for the first time in Broken Hill, touching down on the very land that helped inspire the unofficial Australian anthem of Great Southern Land.
Joining ICEHOUSE will be a slew of Australian music royalty including Hoodoo Gurus, Human Nature, Pete Murray, The Angels, The Waifs, Kate
Ceberano, Troy Cassar-Daley, Dragon, Thirsty Merc, Chocolate Starfish, Shane Howard, Jack Jones, Pierce Brothers, Wendy Matthews,
Grace Knight, The Chantoozies, Melanie Dyer, Caitlyn Shadbolt, Furnace and the Fundamentals and Mi-Sex.
With three days of family friendly music, camping and fun from August 17-19 the 2023 Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash is the biggest event ever staged in Outback NSW and set on Belmont Station on the iconic Mundi Mundi plains outside of Silverton.
“The region has a rich history. From the nearby Mutawintji National Park that is home to the famous hand stencil art of local Aboriginal communities, to the history of the local Barkindji and Wilyakali people as well as the regions mining history and the legacy created by Broken Hill’s Pro Hart there is a lot for our festival goers to see and do in and around Broken Hill and Silverton when they come out for our event. And in more recent times , and specific to our event site, last year Midnight Oil revisited the old Burra Homestead that sits not far from our event stage and that featured on their 1987 Diesel & Dust album cover when they performed at our inaugural April 2022 Mundi Mundi Bash. Then in between our two events last year George Miller had Chris Hemsworth and crew out on our event site shooting scenes for Furiosa, the next Mad Max installment. For a plot of land in the middle of nowhere it’s been home to some iconic moments in Australian music and film already. And our event is adding to the rich tapestry that makes up the history of Belmont Station,” added Greg Donovan.
The Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash is an all-ages, dog-friendly camping event with a capacity of around 12,000. The festival offers up uniquely Australian destination adventures for families, grey nomads, camping and caravanning enthusiasts and intrepid travellers alike.
In addition to the music line-up, the festival will feature a jam-packed program of unique outback entertainment and activities – from world record attempts for the ‘Nutbush’ dance and ‘Mad Max dress up’, through to comedy and outdoor film screenings, scenic helicopter flights, camel rides, charity fun run the Mundi Undie Run, dog dress up competitions and much more.
The Mundi Mundi Plains location of the Bash is easily accessible with a sealed road leading right up to the event site (no 4WD required), and scheduled and charter flights, train transport plus bus tours all available to Broken Hill.
The Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash is BYO alcohol for both the campsite and concert areas – and ticket holders are permitted to bring their own food. A large range of food vendors selling both hot and cold food and non-alcoholic beverages are on-site.
The Mundi Mundi Bash has dog-friendly camping and concert areas, and children aged 11-and-under can attend for free.
